- The transaction was previously approved by a Special Committee, made up of non-affiliated members, given that they are companies of the same group, created a year ago to evaluate the acquisition.
The consumer goods company Alicorp announced through two Important Facts the approval and signing of a purchase agreement for the acquisition of 90.55% of the shares of the company Refinería del Espino S.A., which owns the companies Industrias del Espino S.A. and Industria de Grasas y Aceites S.A. The closing of this transaction will be subject to the conditions established in the contract.
The acquisition will allow Alicorp to strengthen its distribution capabilities in the eastern region of Peru, develop new categories and enter new export markets. It will also allow it to access the supply of palm-derived products through an extraction and refining plant that has RSPO (Sustainable Palm Oil Roundtable) certification, which ensures the obtaining of raw materials with the highest standards of quality and sustainability in the market.
The sale was approved at a Board meeting held on August 27. As recalled, for this operation, in June 2023 the creation of a Special Committee made up of non-affiliated members of the Board of Directors was announced, who gave their approval to carry out the process.
